Our Blog

A new beginning:  September 2013

Thank you for joining us on this journey.  First, a little about us. We met in Albuquerque, NM and married in 1999. Robert was a newly retired Navy Chaplain and was serving a large Methodist Church as Associate Pastor and Cynthia was an active member of that church and a single mom.  Soon after we married, Cynthia started a personal chef/catering company.  She had taken lots of cooking classes, had learned from some of the the best chefs in the area and also at the elbow of her mom.  Robert was also a great chef in his own right, having learned from some of the best chefs in San Diego and San Francisco while in the Navy, and from his mom as well.  As we both loved to cook, the personal chef/catering business was ideal for us. And Yo' Momma Home Cooking was born.  The company took off with its "Call Us By Noon Today and We Will Have Supper For You Tonight" promise.

Cynthia did most of the cooking since Robert was still an active full time pastor. Many nights, Cynthia cooked 8-10 different meals for different families as well as having several regular customers for whom she provided 5 meals a week.

In 2005, we moved from Albuquerque, to Clyde, Texas where Robert became the pastor at First United Methodist Church. Robert's parents were aging, and lived in Abilene, so it was a perfect match for us.  We made hard, fast friends when we became part of the Clyde Community.  While in Clyde, Cynthia did a few catering jobs and also taught cooking classes.

In 2008, we moved from Clyde.  Over the next 4 years, we served churches in Monahans/Wickett and Quanah/Chillicothe, Texas. In 2012, Robert retired from the active ministry and took on part-time ministry serving the churches in Baird and Moran.  We moved back to Clyde and into our "forever home" and decided to go back to doing what we LOVE.  Cooking for people.  We see cooking as not just a job, but also a ministry.  So, here we are....

Thank you again for coming along with us on this journey. We look forward to many years of cooking and serving you.

The New Kitchen, October 2013

The end of September, we started construction on a new cooking space to facilitate cooking for you. We now have a 380 sq. ft. cooking area complete with a new to us 10 burner Wolf Stove.  The new space will allow us to prepare meals for larger groups, as well as improve our service to you and our other clients.

We found an awesome contractor in Fontenot Construction and they had a great plumber in Precision Plumbing.  They were fast, clean and extremely knowledgable about their jobs.  They brought things to our attention that we hadn't even considered, and as a result, we will soon have a state of the art cooking space.  We invite you to drop by and view the new space.  We will be having an "open house" and "ribbon cutting" soon to christen the new space.  Keep an eye here and on our Facebook page for the date and time.

With the cooler weather, we are adding a soup option to our Lunch Box menu.  Call us for the soup of the day.

We are also looking forward to the Holidays.  Let us Destress your family time by taking on some or all of your cooking.  Check out our Specials Tab for some of our offerings.  If you have a traditional menu item, we can take your recipe and create it for you, saving you time; both with shopping and cooking.

We continue to be excited about this new adventure and about serving you.  Just call us and tell us how we can help.

Happy New Year

Welcome 2014!!  Last year was filled with ups and downs, good and bad, happy and sad.  But one of the most amazing blessings for us was you, our clients.  You and your families have made our business thrive and filled our hearts with joy as we serve you.

We look forward to what 2014 has in store for us and our business. We have updated our website, including the option to buy our own signature seasoning, Sandstone Seasoning.  It's perfect on just about anything you can imagine using it on....a little spicy, a little sweet. See our Specials and Products tab for more information on how your can get yours.  We have also developed more new, signature soups.

We are looking forward to Valentine's Day when we can serve you in unique ways. We can create and deliver special lunch boxes with Heart-Shaped Calzones or if you like, we can prepare an entire dinner for you and your honey to share. Whatever you need, we will strive to make your dreams come true.

So, here's to the new year....may it be filled with blessing, laughter, love and lots of good food!
